This series of new works entitled ‘City Heights & City Lights’ is an exploration of the Hong Kong cityscape. In the series Christopher explores the intense contrast between the natural landscape and the built environment.
“I’m energised by the juxtaposition between the irregular shapes of the mountains and the rigid structures of the buildings and how they interplay. The views change as you move to explore further. New apertures are created to reveal the next layer, it could be a sliver of another building or a slice of bright blue sky.’
Christopher also explores the unique colour palette of the city, taking inspiration from the random and changing colour combinations which are formed as buildings and nature switch adjacencies as you move through the city.
